{"id":1489,"date":"2011-07-05T14:02:00","date_gmt":"2011-07-05T14:02:00","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/localhost\/projects\/horsesforsources\/gideon-gartner_070511\/"},"modified":"2011-07-05T14:02:00","modified_gmt":"2011-07-05T14:02:00","slug":"gideon-gartner_070511","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.horsesforsources.com\/gideon-gartner_070511\/","title":{"rendered":"So&#8230; on which side of the fence sits Gideon Gartner?"},"content":{"rendered":"<div id=\"attachment_8598\" class=\"wp-caption alignright\"><a href=\"http:\/\/gideongartner.com\/2011\/07\/advisory-industry-its-future\/\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"size-full wp-image-8598 \" title=\"Gideon Gartner\" src=\"http:\/\/www.horsesforsources.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2011\/07\/GideonGartner.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"208\" height=\"311\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p class=\"wp-caption-text\">Gideon Gartner blogs HfS&#39; views about the analyst business (click to read)<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">So the Grandaddy of great big research, and (arguably) the founding father of today&#8217;s IT industry analyst business, Gideon Gartner, picked up on our recent post &#8220;<a href=\"http:\/\/www.horsesforsources.com\/analysts-survive_062011\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Will the industry analyst business be dead in five years?<\/a>&#8221; (Check out his post <a href=\"http:\/\/gideongartner.com\/2011\/07\/advisory-industry-its-future\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">here<\/a>).<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">Gideon&#8217;s opinion must be <em>the<\/em> most sought-after on this topic, and he does a great job being non-committal with <a href=\"http:\/\/gideongartner.com\/2011\/07\/advisory-industry-its-future\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">his blog<\/a> on HfS&#8217; piece. However, you do get the distinct impression we struck a chord with him:<\/p>\n<p><span style=\"color: #0000ff;\"><em>&#8220;Perhaps his conclusions were overstated, but perhaps not; \u00a0some version of today\u2019s Advisories will undoubtedly survive. But the comments seem to\u00a0support\u00a0his views&#8221;<\/em><\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">And while the &#8220;analyst&#8221; industry is unlikely to be buried in a coffin in five years, the amount of attention this\u00a0discussion\u00a0has invoked clearly signifies one thing: \u00a0the traditional\u00a0analyst\u00a0business desperately needs to <em>change<\/em>.
